4-H Youth Development Coordinator - Jefferson County
Effective July 1, 2024, Auburn University will fully comply with the modifications made to the Fair Labor Standards Act’s minimum salary threshold for overtime pay. Effective October 1, 2024, Non-Faculty pay ranges will be updated to align with Auburn's fiscal year. Please note that the new ranges will reflect a slight increase. Employment with Auburn University is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background check.
Minimum Starting Salary
$43,860 for a Bachelor's Degree
$47,860 for a Master's Degree
Salary will be commensurate with relevant, professional work experience.

Location: This position will be housed in the Jefferson County Extension Office in Birmingham, Alabama!
Who we are: The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is the outreach organization for the land grant mission of Auburn University and Alabama A&M University. Our educational programs grow from these two land grant university campuses to serve the people of Alabama.
Who we’re looking for: We are seeking a servant leader that has a passion for working with youth in Jefferson County! As a 4-H Youth Development Coordinator (4-H YDC), this position provides the opportunity to do something new every day — our 4-H YDCs work with animals, outdoors, STEM, gardening, cooking, and everything in between. Must be willing to work as part of a team and serve a diverse population.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities of 4-H Youth Development Coordinators:
* Develops leadership and engagement skills to grow and sustain the county 4-H program.
* Diversifies program delivery by learning new programs and resources in key 4-H program subject areas.
* Stays current on demographic and socioeconomic change to include diverse voices in program prioritization.
* Outdoor work will be required at times.
Program Leadership:
* Provides leadership, direction, organization, and implementation of a broad-based county 4-H program.
* Provides experiential learning opportunities for youth through teaching and mentoring.
* Meets regularly with colleagues to share needs assessment results and coordinate programs.
Program Management and Marketing:
* Serves as the leading program resource member of the County 4-H Team.
* Promote and market Alabama 4-H and local programs.
* Maintains effective communication and develops networks and partnerships.
Volunteer and Resource Management:
* Provides leadership and coordination for 4-H volunteer development.
* Appropriately identifies, secures, and manages fiscal resources.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have a bachelor’s degree in a discipline directly related to one of four major program areas.
Minimum Required Skills and Abilities:
* Strong work ethic and sense of responsibility.
* Basic knowledge in educational technologies.
* Ability to work in a team setting.
* Must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Desired Qualifications
A master’s degree in a discipline directly related to one of our major program areas is highly preferred.
