The Special Educational Needs Clubs and Activities Service (SENDCAS) is a vibrant and welcoming team dedicated to supporting children and young people by providing enriching and inclusive experiences. We are excited to expand our team by welcoming enthusiastic and dependable 'Buddy' Support Workers who will play a key role in helping us deliver these exceptional experiences. The Role
As a Buddy Support Worker with the SENDCAS Team, you will play a crucial role in delivering our services to young people (ages 5 to 18) with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) residing in North Somerset. Your primary responsibility will be providing one-on-one support within group settings, ensuring that each child or young person has a positive and inclusive experience during our activities.
You will assist with our specialist activity days, which take place during school holidays across North Somerset. Additionally, you will help run our term time Saturday Club (9.00-13.00) and Wednesday Evening Club (18.00-21.00), both of which are hosted at The Firs Resource Centre in Weston-super-Mare.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support to children and young people with SEND in group settings.
* Facilitate and participate in a variety of inclusive activities, ranging from creative workshops to outdoor adventures.
* Ensure the well-being and safety of young people during all activities.
* Collaborate with other team members to create a welcoming, engaging, and supportive environment.
About You
* Able to engage and create positive experiences for children and young people with SEND.
* Excellent communication skills, ensuring clear interaction with children, families, and team members.
* A positive attitude with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
* Flexible, dependable, and open to working evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the service.
* Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
