We are now looking for an individual from an engineering background with offshore oil and gas operations expertise to retrain as an Offshore Process Engineering Specialist Inspector and join us on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a chartered engineer from an offshore oil and gas operations background to re-focus their career and take on an inspector position with our essential organisation.
You'll be supported through a Specialist Training Programme (STP) to gain the skills and expertise to become a safety inspector. You will enrol on the STP and undertake a combination of study, practical experience and a final assessment ensuring you are equipped to operate at the forefront of your specialist area.
The Role
As an Offshore Process Engineering Specialist Inspector, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of the UK's offshore oil and gas industry.
You will lead the assessment of safety cases, identifying risks and areas for improvement to safeguard operations and prevent major incidents. Acting as a technical authority, you will provide expert advice to industry stakeholders and contribute to the development of industry standards and guidance.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will investigate incidents, inspect both on and offshore facilities, issuing different levels of enforcement depending on the risk present. You will also prepare technical reports, while providing expert evidence for various levels of legal proceedings.
Additionally, you will:
- Make technical contributions to the development of industry standards and guidance
- Participate in industry working groups and wider sector engagement
Please note, enrolment in the Specialist Training Programme (STP) is a legal requirement that you will be required to study for and successfully complete.
About You
To be considered as an Offshore Process Engineering Specialist Inspector, you will need:
- Significant practical experience in process engineering within offshore oil and gas or another high-hazard industry
- A strong understanding of engineering codes, plant design, safety management, and risk assessment techniques
- The ability to influence change and effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels
- Experience in investigating incidents, applying technical knowledge to address failings
- A degree in Chemical Engineering and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE)
- A full, valid driving licence (or the ability to meet the role's requirements through reasonable adjustments)
