BV are growing our UK based team due to demand and we are now seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Glasgow office, supporting a variety of projects within the UK and wider EMEA region. This role will give leadership to our global design teams who produce drawings, SLDs, studies, reports and more. As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will review and manage the overall design activity, interface with clients and keep the delivery schedule on track. Key areas you will support are Solar PV and BESS and other renewables, focusing on balance of plant, grid connection and transmission infrastructure. Your expertise will also inform bids and proposals, as well as the tendering process for EPC contracts. Mentorship and development of our UK based Graduate Electrical Engineers will be a further aspect of the role. You must be able to commute to the office 3 days per week and have the legal right to work in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
1. Complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects. Typically supports multiple projects on complex technical challenges.
2. Researches and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
3. Oversees collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work.
4. Prepares complex engineering calculations.
5. Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
6. Serves as a technical specialist, providing consultation and guidance to project teams.
Management Responsibilities
Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
2. Proven track record leading a team of engineers.
3. Sound understanding of UK Grid Code and relevant regulations, with significant experience on UK electrical engineering projects.
4. Experience with high voltage (HV) electrical engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience with Solar, Wind and BESS Projects.
2. Experience interfacing with DNOs and confident engaging with clients.
3. Has worked on AIS or GIS 220 kV and above.
4. HV Substation Primary design experience.
5. Protection & Control design experience.
6. Experience in preparation of SCADA and Telecom architecture.
7. Transmission Line & EHV Cable knowledge.
8. Industry knowledge and technology trends.
9. Knowledge of construction & constructability practices & principles.
10. Intermediate knowledge of procurement & contract administration.
11. Working knowledge of process, procedures for project controls and estimating.
12. Intermediate knowledge of technical aspects of the proposal process.
13. Knowledge on clearances for the substations designs, CT and PT sizing calculation, Lightning arrestor, Grounding calculations, DG Sizing.
14. Conversant with sizing calculation for transformers along with Electrical system modelling / studies.
