Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* As a member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the delivery of patients’ individual care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
* The Senior Nursing Assistant demonstrates a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific tasks delegated by the nurse in charge and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies. S/he will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent.
* The role involves assisting patients seen in the department, measuring vital signs, taking blood samples and other specimens as necessary.
* Using their own initiative the post-holder will keep material resources of the department, well stocked and in good order and help to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
* There is the opportunity to develop within the role and undertake further training and development.
* To act as a role model for colleagues.

Education & professional Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Evidence of literacy and numeracy skills to GCSE C or equivalent.
* Experience.
* Ability to perform area specific core clinical competencies.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Competent in clinical decision making and prioritising care for a defined group of patients.
* Has a caring, compassionate and professional nature.
Desirable criteria
* Previous experience of customer care.
