We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join a dynamic team on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will be involved in the assembly of mechanical systems, working hands-on with steel structures and ensuring precision in line with project standards.
Candidates must be able to provide 3 years' worth of employment references and must be eligible to obtain basic security clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform assembly, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems and components.
2. Mark out, drill, and tap steel structures for precise assembly.
3. Work hands-on with steel structures, following engineering specifications.
4. Conduct troubleshooting and repairs on various mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies.
5. Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications accurately to ensure precision.
6. Utilise hand and power tools effectively and safely.
7. Conduct quality checks to ensure all work meets industry standards and project requirements.
8. Collaborate with engineering teams to meet deadlines and resolve technical issues.
9. Adhere to health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar mechanical role.
2. Skilled in marking out, drilling, and tapping, particularly with steel structures.
3. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
4. Strong hands-on experience with hand and power tools.
5. High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
6. Relevant mechanical engineering qualification or apprenticeship (preferred).
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
8. Prior experience within a defence or manufacturing environment is advantageous.
