Do you want to make a real difference advocating for people with complex mental health needs within a forensic hospital setting?
Starting Salary: £37,388 - £40,784 per annum (depending on experience)
About Us
We are St Andrew's, a mental health charity inspiring hope for those living with complex mental health needs.
We are looking to a future with less stigma, more community support, more research and education, aiming to inspire real change. We want to ensure everyone with complex mental health needs is heard, valued, and has hope for their future.
Your role with us
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Neuropsychiatry Division for a qualified Social Worker. You would be joining a high-achieving and committed social work team within an inpatient hospital setting.
Our Neuropsychiatry services are based in Northampton at our central 140-acre campus or in the surrounding community.
With over 460 Neuropsychiatry specialist staff, we deliver tailored care to adults with complex neurological conditions, alongside their co-morbid physical needs and mental health disorders.
We manage physical healthcare and the most complex neuropsychiatric needs from our central campus. With a service of more than 200 beds, from medium secure to community-supported transitional living, we can tailor the environment and therapy to each patient's needs.
Our model of care focuses on meeting the complex, highly specialised needs of patients and aims to deliver progressive, world-class, and holistic care. Patients benefit from tailored therapies and interventions, delivered by an extensive neurobehavioural inter-disciplinary team.
As a Social Worker, you will gain experience across all our specialisms, develop a deeper understanding of complex mental health needs, and have access to further training such as RAID and a comprehensive ASYE programme.
You will work in partnership with our multi-disciplinary teams (including Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Nursing, and other Allied Health Professions) to provide holistic individualised treatment plans and work directly with our patients on their recovery journey. You will lead carer engagement and involvement, ensuring families are part of the team. You will become an expert in mental health legislation and practice, giving evidence at Tribunals and taking the lead on safeguarding.
You will have a recognised Social Work Qualification and ideally experience in Mental Health and Mental Capacity Legislation, as well as Safeguarding Adults Legislation and practice, including undertaking safeguarding investigations.
St Andrew’s Healthcare Social Workers must be registered with Social Work England, and there will be opportunities for training to ensure registration. In addition, there will be regular clinical supervision, an annual performance review, and opportunities for development to stay up to date with the latest research, trends, and best practices in psychiatric social work.
As a Charity focused on Education, Research, and Training, we offer access to ASYE, Practice Educator course, Social Work forums, and have strong links with the University of Northampton and local teaching partnerships.
Our patients and your colleagues will expect you to live the St Andrew’s CARE values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence every day.
