Job Description: Site Maintenance Engineer responsible for plant equipment maintenance, proactive and reactive, through all stages of production, including start up and shut down, and providing engineering service to maintain company assets.
* Manage external contractors, ensuring sign off of completed works against an agreed standard, compliance with internal systems, review Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Issue Permit to Work.
* Document all work carried out, and ensure necessary approval before work commences.
* Stay updated on existing and new machinery.
* Share knowledge regarding fault finding with Site Manager and Production Supervisors as applicable.
* Commission and risk assess new installations or modifications to existing machinery before use.
* Ensure site compliance with UK engineering compliance requirements and internal system requirements.
* Maintain engineering stores, ordering, and tidiness.
* Promote safety awareness, cost, and quality awareness.
* Report accidents, ill health, or near miss situations arising out of work activity in compliance with the company reporting procedure.
Qualifications and skills required:
* Time served multi-skilled engineer with an electrical bias or electrical engineering qualification.
* Several years of experience in a similar maintenance role, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
* A wide breadth of engineering knowledge.
* Ability to work independently and prioritize conflicting demands.
* Fault finding skills, including interrogating PLCs.
* Good working knowledge of MS Office.
* Experience of managing small projects and external contractors.
* Thorough understanding of relevant Health and Safety legislation. Experience of Food Safety is highly desirable.
