Due to substantial growth, we are expanding our highly skilled and collaborative team with an exciting opening for a Technical Maintenance Controller.
What does the role involve:
As a Technical Maintenance Controller, you will serve as the primary point of contact for our customers and suppliers, overseeing the maintenance booking process, progressing servicing, repairs and handling breakdowns on our Fleet Managed vehicles.
Some of your key responsibilities include:
1. Optimising Cost Efficiency:
o Coordinating with 3rd party service providers, managing authorisation requests promptly and efficiently.
o Using your technical expertise to ensure work carried out meets good practice, keeping vehicles safe and legal and is challenged, where required, to ensure cost effectiveness.
o Identifying any rechargeable repairs and ensuring customer authority is obtained prior to repair.
o Ensure warranty all work is identified, and goodwill contributions maximised.
o Using an approved network of agents proactively and efficiently booking servicing and maintenance, ensuring work is carried out at pre-defined intervals using 1-Link and inhouse maintenance management system.
2. Vehicle Downtime Management / Customer Focus:
o Managing vehicle breakdowns and workshop repair progress, ensuring timely updates are available to both customers and colleagues, minimising ‘vehicle off road' (VOR) time.
o Identifying issues and potential delays in a timely fashion and escalating them directly to the manufacturers, suppliers or management for support and advice.
o Proactively engaging with customers to find cost effective solutions.
3. Record Keeping:
o Ensuring all associated administration is completed to a very high standard, raising order numbers and processing invoices.
o Ensure incoming calls are answered quickly, confidently and professionally at all times and are effectively dealt with.
o Accurately updating our specialist fleet management system.
4. Working Relationships:
o Providing technical support and building positive working relationships with your team, customers and suppliers.
Who are we looking for as a Technical Maintenance Controller:
* The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, detail-oriented individual with a strong mechanical knowledge and excellent communication skills.
* This role would suit a time served Motor Vehicle Technician qualified to City & Guilds or Manufacturer standards.
* Or a minimum of 5 years previous experience in a similar role within the automotive sector (Fleet Management / Workshops / Vehicle repair).
* A proven track record of providing excellent customer service.
* Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.
* Can do attitude and enjoy problem solving in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
* An understanding of the importance of minimising vehicle downtime, cost effectively.
* Proficient in PC use, Microsoft Excel, internet, email, and able to quickly learn new software applications.
* Exposure to Epyx 1-Link or any other maintenance management systems would be desirable.
* Is well organised, resilient, and has the ability to work on your own initiative.

* Salary between £30k and £34k, dependent on experience.
