Job overview
· As a clinical specialist midwife in a continuity team you will provide care to a defined caseload of patients within a team continuity model, as described by Better Births (2016) in line with the ambition to reduce maternal and neonatal deaths, stillbirths and hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy.
· In line with the Equity and Equality Strategy (2021) will provide safe maternity care for those living in the most deprived areas to achieve health outcomes that are as good as the groups with the best health outcomes. This will be piloted within the Skegness Continuity of Carer Team and rolled out to other areas where need is identified.
· You will work in the capacity of a clinical specialist in a Continuity of Carer team, for a caseload high in safeguarding and deprivation.
· As part of a continuity team, you will cover an on call rota and provide intrapartum support for patients booked for care with your named team.

Person specification
Qualifications
* • RM with NMC for minimum of 3 years
* • Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
* • Compliant with 3a Safeguarding training within health or interagency.
* • Recognised management qualification
Skills
* • Effective in communication skills, both written and verbal
* • Able to demonstrate knowledge in Child Protection
* • Ability to interpret and apply appropriate research findings
* • Awareness and Knowledge of the dignity in care agenda.
* • Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework
Previous Experience
* • All round midwifery experience including antenatal clinic, postnatal and intrapartum
* • Participation in clinical audit and/or standard setting
* • Evidence of Professional Development
* • Experience of liaising with other agencies
* • Able to evidence knowledge of the Child Protection processes.
* • Experience of caring for families where there are safeguarding concerns.
* • Have knowledge of Domestic Abuse processes
* • Able to present information to a professional audience.
* • Able to convey sensitive information in an empathetic manner to staff, patients/clients
* • Can produce timely, accurate written/electronic documents.
* • Time Management and ability to prioritise workload.
* • Ability to provide emotional support- caring for women and staff in difficult circumstances as there will be constant exposure to difficult and sensitive information concerning vulnerable and abused children and complex child protection issues.
* • Act as an advocate for unborn/baby/child/mother where required.
* Lead and undertake clinical audits.
* Experience of autonomous working in relation to safeguarding and handling individual cases.
* Demonstrate knowledge of key documents and legislation of local and national level related to safeguarding processes
* •Multi-agency working- attendance and contribution to multi-agency meeting ie Case conference.
* •Knowledge of domestic abuse and the MARAC process
Specific Requirements
* • Able to demonstrate skills/awareness in multidisciplinary work
* • Hold a valid driving licence and have access to own car.
* • Able to use standard computer systems
