Job summary A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably skilled, experienced and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to take this Band 7 Occupational Therapist opportunity in our service. This will include providing support, leadership and professional development to Occupational Therapy teams working across a variety of inpatient wards.You will therefore need to be skilled in identifying and managing the varying rehabilitation and discharge needs of complex patients. This may include daily contribution to find innovative discharge solutions, support for patient flow initiatives and contribute to a system-wide MDT approach. You will be responsible for the professional support and training of Occupational Therapy staff across many wards as well as deputising for the Site Lead Occupational Therapist. You will have the opportunity to work in integrated therapy teams whilst also delivering specialist patient care. The role offers team working, autonomy, variety and significant development opportunities, both in leadership and clinical skills. This role is ideal for experienced Band 6 OTs with advanced clinical skills wishing to develop further into a senior position or for existing Band 7s looking for a new challenge. Previous NHS experience is essential. The post-holder's base will be Pilgrim Hospital in Boston with an expectation to travel and work on at least one other site. The other site will most likely be Lincoln County Hospital, Lincoln. Main duties of the job You will be responsible forworking alongside the existing therapy team of Occupational Therapists (Band 5 and 6) and Occupational Therapy Assistants (Band 2, 3 and 4). You will participate in the established 7-day service with a commitment of 1 weekend in 4 with rest days during the week. High standards of clinical performance are essential, together with exemplary leadership skills and an interest in developing your managerial potential. The successful candidate will act as a clinical specialist Occupational Therapist within a designated area//team. In addition you will be well organised with strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to teach. The department frequently takes students on placement and you will be expected to commit to regular participation in undergraduate clinical education and supporting newly qualified staff through Preceptorship. The role has supervision and staff management responsibility and your development will be supported by a team of band 7 peers and the Site Lead Occupational Therapist. Demonstrable experience at a senior level is essential.
