To support our continuing growth, we are seeking to appoint a new Lecturer (teaching intensive) within the Department of Social Work. The Department of Social Work is a rapidly expanding department with an outstanding reputation in the delivery of social work education and is currently ranked 1st in Subject in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2025.
As a lecturer in social work, you will focus on providing high-quality learning and teaching underpinned by scholarly activity. We are keen to receive applications from individuals who will enhance our delivery and reputation in social work, particularly those committed to practice education, learning, and development. Applicants should hold professional qualifications relevant to the post and ideally will be qualified to doctoral level or equivalent.
Lecturers are expected to contribute to the delivery and assessment of existing modules, supervision, and the enhancement of the student experience across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including inter-professional education. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to practice education, learning, and development. Prior experience of supporting student learning, teaching, and assessment in higher education and/or in industry/practice settings is essential. A higher education teaching qualification and/or Fellow status with AdvanceHE is desirable.
If you wish to know more about these opportunities, or for an informal discussion, please feel free to contact Dr Sharon Jackson, Head of Department: Sharon.Jackson@gcu.ac.uk.
