About the division
The Water Consultancy Division is the centre of excellence within Mott MacDonald for responding to water and wastewater challenges, providing support to colleagues across our global business, and offering fantastic opportunities to get involved in diverse and technically challenging work. Our highly successful water consultancy business is servicing ever-increasing demands from water sector clients to help deliver ambitious capital programmes. Overview of role
Mott MacDonald is a market leader in the UK water sector, being a key supplier to major water companies and delivering a wide variety of engineering and advisory projects in support of the challenges faced by the sector. Our Water Consultancy Division has ambitious growth plans in line with AMP8 investment needs and we are proud of our strong reputation in the industry which is allowing us to expand our business.
Having been appointed to a large UK water consultancy framework in 2024, we are looking for a Team Leader to manage a multi-disciplinary team and lead the delivery of our wastewater programme of works. Reporting to the Design Manager, this technical position requires someone keen to build on the good work done in establishing our position on this framework and work across our technical discipline leads to ensure projects within the wastewater programme deliver on time, budget and drive technical excellence. This will be a Client-facing role requiring close working relationships with the Client leadership team as part of a collaborative delivery with the Client and other framework partners.
The role is expected to develop and evolve in line with the framework requirements and the candidates’ own skills and development areas. It offers an excellent opportunity to develop future-proofed services and solutions that embrace the latest innovations in digital technology. It also offers the opportunity to develop the next generation of talent within our business.

Required skills and experience:
* Chartered Status (CEng) with a recognised Professional Institution.
* An understanding of conventional and innovative water and/or wastewater treatment technologies.
* Track record of engineering technical leadership.
* Significant experience in development and delivery of feasibility and outline design solutions within the UK water sector.
* Ability to support bids, fee proposals or offers of service.
* Ability to check and review technical deliverables, calculations and reports.
* Strong communication skills with experience in effective collaboration across internal multi-disciplinary teams as well as Client teams.
* Desire to take a leading role with client engagement.
* Ability to be located locally in client office in Newport with travel to sites in various locations across Wales.
* Track record in building teams and capability of junior staff.
* Understanding of key water sector wastewater treatment and sustainability needs.
* Understanding of drivers for wastewater treatment investment in England and Wales.
* Excellent technical report writing skills using concise English.
