As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other special educational needs.
This position offers a unique chance to work directly with children and young people, helping them navigate their educational journey and develop essential skills. Under the guidance of experienced teachers and the SENCO, you’ll make a real impact in the classroom and gain valuable experience in special education.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting Students: Work one-on-one or in small groups to provide individualised support to students with autism, encouraging their participation and confidence in classroom activities.
* Implementing IEPs: Assist in following and applying Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies tailored to each student’s unique needs, ensuring effective support for their learning journey.
* Adapting Learning Materials: Help make the curriculum accessible by adjusting learning materials, providing clear explanations, and offering additional guidance to support students’ understanding and engagement.
* Building Positive Relationships: Establish a warm, supportive rapport with students, fostering a positive environment where they feel encouraged to explore, participate, and grow.
* Collaborating with Professionals: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other specialists to monitor student progress and offer insights, helping to refine support strategies.
* Ensuring a Safe Environment: Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning space, ensuring that every child feels supported and valued.

Requirements:
