Reporting to the Engineering Support Manager, the mission of the role is to ensure timely and cost-effective supply of Liquid Ring Pump (LRP) component parts by co-ordinating and scheduling the flow of materials to satisfy production demands whilst maintaining inventories and following pump builds from receipt of order through to despatch.
Main Responsibilities
1. Creation of part numbers, structuring, routing, raising manufacturing orders, issuing stock to relevant contracts.
2. Updating order progress reports for project engineers on all contracts and on all spares orders for the LRP spares team.
3. Shipping – Liaise with freight forwarders regarding shipping orders, complete necessary transactions to transfer items from the manufacturing system (MAPICS) into the commercial system (SAP). Create shipping documents via (IWT), Inter Warehouse Transfer ensuring holds are released.
4. Creation of shipping documents to allow the invoice to be produced.
5. Liaise with Contracts Manager to set costs at the end of the project to allow CRFs (Change Request Form) to be processed.
6. Foundries/Patterns – Send requests for quotation to the foundries including pattern drawings and material specifications. Liaise with the foundries to ensure they have the correct patterns. Maintain pattern log and register.
7. Monthly review with Contracts Manager to approve costings and close out open manufacturing orders.
Skills / Experience
1. CIPS level 4 or equivalent qualification is desirable but not required, or equivalent through experience.
2. Working knowledge of an MRP based manufacturing control system, ideally MAPICS / SAP.
3. A good understanding of production planning and inventory management principles.
4. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel, DWG & PTC drawing systems an advantage.
5. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a materials control function & 2 years in a purchasing function are essential.
6. The ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and achieve set targets.
7. Strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
