Job Description:
Our client is looking for a Finance Assistant to join them on a permanent basis in Letchworth Garden City. In this position, you will work on accounts payable, support the finance team, and report to the Finance Director.
This role is suitable for someone who is AAT qualified or currently studying for a finance or accounting qualification.
You should have experience in accounts payable, double-entry bookkeeping, supplier payments, and reconciliations.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 8:30 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday (1-hour unpaid lunch)
Responsibilities:
* Online banking and cash management
* Processing and matching supplier invoices to purchase orders and stock receipts
* Managing and correcting pricing issues and shortages
* Preparing weekly supplier payment runs and sending remittances
* Processing staff expenses and corporate credit card claims
* Maintaining supplier accounts and creating new suppliers
* Producing aged creditors reports monthly and preparing statement reconciliations
* Responding promptly to internal and external queries
* Supporting the line manager and team to improve processes and efficiencies
* Providing holiday cover for accounts receivable (ad hoc)
* Performing other tasks to ensure smooth finance operations
Experience and skills:
* AAT qualified or studying towards a qualification – preferred
* At least 3 years of accounts payable experience – essential
* Knowledge of accounts payable and balance sheet reconciliations – essential
* Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and accounting software – essential
* Experience with Sage X3 software – desirable
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
* Well-organized with high attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to establish and maintain good business relationships internally and externally
* Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative working ability
* Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and positive attitude
