Are you passionate about supporting EAL learners in their journey to become confident, independent readers? We're seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to deliver targeted phonics intervention to EAL pupils at a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Darwen.
About the Role:
This is a full-time, long-term position starting ASAP. You’ll be working closely with small groups of EAL students, supporting their literacy development through structured phonics programs, tailored to their individual learning needs. Your support will be key in helping these pupils thrive within the wider curriculum.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with EAL learners or delivering phonics-based interventions (primary or secondary level)
- Strong communication skills and a nurturing approach
- Ability to build rapport with young people and support a range of learning needs
- A proactive team player, able to liaise with teaching staff and SEN/EAL coordinators
- Relevant TA qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)
