We are currently seeking a Yard Supervisor to join our GPS Newbury team. This full-time role offers a great work-life balance with no bank holiday shifts. You'll lead a dedicated team of Yard Operatives who are essential to our operations, working outdoors and handling vehicles with care. The supervisor will collaborate with the General Manager and Office Supervisor to ensure smooth yard operations, overseeing daily tasks like de-pollution, processing, and staff performance. You'll ensure targets are met, policies are followed, and compliance is maintained across all site activities. Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee site cleanliness, maintenance, and equipment (vans, lorries, forklifts). Manage consumables (straps, cardboard, AdBlue) and ensure equipment availability. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and security protocols. Handle yard requests, replanning failed deliveries, and managing contingencies. Serve as the Point of Contact for driver queries, head office staff, and van servicing. Optimise driver schedules, manifest routes, and process invoices. Manage RMAs/POs for return shipments to Skelmersdale. Recruit, train, and manage van drivers, addressing disciplinary issues. Cover driver absences and liaise with head office for operational support. Supervise loading/unloading of parts and vehicles, including trunking trailers. Address equipment failures or shortages and ensure operational efficiency. Daily: Driver management, site sweeping, equipment checks and responding to yard requests. Weekly: Health & safety checks, maintenance reviews, and recruitment follow-ups. As Needed: Handling breakdowns, driver sickness, and security or disciplinary matters.
