SEND Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND School, Runcorn
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with complex needs and autism (ASD)? We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team at a large specialist SEND school in Runcorn. This is a full-time role (Monday to Friday, 8:45 am – 3:45 pm), supporting children with severe learning difficulties, ASD, and non-verbal communication needs.
About the Role:
1. Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with complex needs, including ASD and non-verbal communication.
2. Assist with personal care and sensory regulation activities, ensuring pupils feel safe and supported.
3. Use visual aids, PECS, Makaton, or AAC devices to help children communicate and engage in learning.
4. Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to implement individual learning and care plans.
5. Create a calm, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
About You:
1. Experience working with children with SEND, particularly those with ASD, complex needs, or non-verbal communication.
2. A patient, caring, and adaptable approach, with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
3. Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to follow EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans).
4. Relevant SEND experience in a school, residential, or care setting is highly valued.
