About the service We are looking for Support Practitioners to join us at our Walton Mill Housing Support Services based in Dundee. We provide 24-hour support for 3 people and part time support for 2 others in their own homes. Each individual has their own unique needs including, but not limited to, learning disabilities, autism, epilepsy, complex communication, deaf-blindness and cerebral palsy. All of the people that we support have their own unique personalities, lifestyles, interests and hobbies and so no two days are the same. Shift times commence from 8am to 10pm start and finishing times across a variety of early, late, mid and sleepover shifts 7 days a week. This will include a variety of lone working and 2:1 shifts, with each shift providing support to only one individual meaning you get real opportunity to get to know the individuals you are supporting to provide consistency and build trusting relationships. Day to day you will Assist the people we support in their own homes with personal care, housework, administering medication, meal preparation and supporting with finances Attend meaningful activities in the community Liaise with families, guardians and other professionals to ensure you are providing the best quality care as part of a wider team Promote independence, individuality and achievement of goals, with the voices of the people we support at the very centre Maintaining accurate, up to date, daily recordings At Sense Scotland, we take great pride in supporting a diverse range of engaging activities for the people we support. You will be supporting individuals to engage in the activities of their choosing as well as researching, planning and supporting new activities and social events in their community. This may be walking and drumming group, dance class, karaoke, arts and crafts, swimming, trampolining, concerts, travel, going out for lunch or to the pub and much more.
