Key Responsibilities
As Engineering Manager, you will:
* Oversee, lead, and develop technical department managers across infrastructure, software, web, voice, and data, ensuring smooth operations of high-availability services for thousands of customers.
* Drive innovative project lifecycles from planning to delivery, working across teams to guarantee seamless execution and alignment with strategic goals.
* Implement process improvements and best practices to streamline workflows, enhance scalability, and boost customer satisfaction.
* Play a pivotal role in hiring, training, and developing top technical talent, ensuring the team is equipped to excel.
* Build a culture of collaboration, excellence, and innovation, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of the industry.
To Be Successful, You'll Need:
* A strong technical background with in-depth knowledge of DevOps or SysAdmin, alongside an understanding of IT infrastructure, software development, and high-availability technologies.
* Proven experience in team leadership or a genuine passion and readiness to step into a leadership role.
* Knowledge of SDLC and ITIL frameworks, as well as Agile/Lean methodologies.
* An understanding of networking principles, particularly WAN and ISP infrastructure best practices, and experience with high-availability technologies (across web, databases, and telecoms).
* Exceptional communication skills to inspire and guide teams.
* Preferably, a background in Internet Service Providers (ISPs), telecoms, or similar environments.
Desirable Technical Knowledge:
Familiarity with any of the following technologies would be advantageous:
* Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, Kamailio, OpenSIPs, and networking protocols (IPv4/IPv6).
* Software coding and web development in C/C++, Python, Java, or Laravel.
Location:
* Ideally, you will be based within a commutable distance of Dorset with a mix of office and remote working.
* Candidates with relevant ISP/telecoms or DevOps/SysAdmin experience based elsewhere in the UK will be considered for fully remote working. Remote candidates must be willing to travel to the office occasionally, e.g., once a month, depending on location and circumstances.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm (flexibility available).
