Senior Estimator Location: Coatbridge, Scotland Salary: Negotiable dependant on experience plus package Summary An industry leading European supplier for railway electrification is looking to recruit an experienced Estimator to join the business in Scotland working on a number of electrification schemes across Scotland to oversee operations on a day-to-day basis, and ensure that work is completed safely, on time and within budget and to the right quality standards. Duties: - Producing accurate and comprehensive estimates in a timely and efficient manner. - Work closely with the Pre-Contracts Director and Commercial team developing a delivery plan to project completion. - This role will be based within the Transmission and Distribution and the Rail sectors, working on a variety of projects throughout the UK. - Assisting to identify new tender opportunities and working with the operational team to establish resource availability against the proposed works. - Working alongside different departments, including the operational teams, planners and Quantity Surveyors. - Estimating from First Principles. - Creating comprehensive cost plans and estimates. - Ensuring estimates are both accurate and timely and supporting the team accordingly to develop these skills. - Build rapport and relationships with key clients- key behaviour. - Applying and using recognised, appropriate method of measurement rules in the preparation of all estimates. - Working with the Work Winning Bid team including the completing of bid/tender information. - Produce Pre-Contract reports on tendering activity each month. - Assist as directed. Candidate specification - Commercial awareness and experience of estimating within the Transmission and Distribution and / or rail sector. - Computer literacy and excellent excel skills. - Experienced in Estimating from First Principles. - Experience of working in a rail background and or transmission and distribution within an estimating, commercial type role. - Degree level qualified or significant demonstrated knowledge. - Minimum of 2 years' experience of working within an senior/managing estimating, commercial planning type role. - Demonstrated experience and knowledge of working on small and larger project values- ability to adapt to requirements and needs of the client. - High level of experience of producing detailed costs breakdowns and estimates and able to review cost rates and productivity rates over different shifts. - Ability to produce reports and present data, calculations and findings. - PTS card desirable. - Valid driving licence and vehicle and able to travel as required.
