An exciting Press Brake Operator position has become available in Biggleswade at an engineering company.
Job Title: Press Brake Operator
Shift: 40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7:00am - 4:00pm and Friday 7:00am - 1:00pm
Rate: Up to £18 p/h
The Press Brake Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining press brake machines to bend, shape, and form metal and other materials as per blueprints, specifications, and work orders. The role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Machine Setup and Operation:
* Set up press brake machines by installing and aligning tools, dies, and equipment.
* Program and adjust machine controls to achieve desired specifications.
* Perform test runs to ensure accurate bending and shaping of materials.
* Operate press brake machinery to bend and form metal components according to blueprints and technical drawings.

Quality Control:
* Inspect completed parts for accuracy, using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
* Ensure all products meet or exceed quality standards and specifications.
* Identify and troubleshoot any issues during the bending process to prevent defects.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
* Perform routine maintenance on press brake machines to ensure optimal functionality.
* Identify and repair or report any malfunctions or issues with machinery.
* Keep work area clean and organized, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
4.
Documentation and Reporting:
* Maintain accurate records of machine settings, production quantities, and quality control checks.
* Report production progress and any issues to supervisors or production managers.
5.
Team Collaboration:
* Work closely with other team members, including engineers and production staff, to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.
* Participate in team meetings and provide input on process improvements and problem-solving.
Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills:
* Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
* Experience with press brake machines, including setup, operation, and maintenance.
* Knowledge of metal types and properties, as well as appropriate handling and bending techniques.
Experience and Education:
*
Previous experience as a press brake operator or in a similar manufacturing role preferred.
*
Certification or technical training in machine operation is an advantage.
