Job summary The post holder will work independently as a Clinical Nurse Specialist performing diagnostic and therapeutic hysteroscopy procedures in line with the Faster Diagnostic Services (FDS) as outlined by NHS England to meet the 28-day target from referral to diagnosis. The post holder will demonstrate advanced levels of clinical judgment, discretion and clinical decision making in accordance with the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopists (BSGE). The post holder will be an experienced practitioner, with expert knowledge and skills in the field of hysteroscopy services, undertaking holistic assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care in accordance with National Guidance; and able to provide comprehensive consultation and advice for patients. The role includes providing a Nurse led hysteroscopy service, as part of a MDT in collaboration with a consultant lead supporting a one stop model of care for women who are referred to the service for suspected cancer. The successful post holder will also work in partnership with the patient navigator, the wider operational management team, nursing, and support all teams to deliver the clinical objectives of the Hysteroscopy Faster Diagnosis Service. This is a new and exciting opportunity to develop a service which meets the needs of women referred to our service. Main duties of the job The practitioner will be involved in the delivery of FDS hysteroscopy services to all patients attending the department. They will be able to organise their workload efficiently and liaise with referrers and other staff to optimise service delivery. The Postholder will work unsupervised in delivering all aspects of hysteroscopy, act independently, understand scan findings and produce written reports on examinations performed. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role due to the need to deliver highly sensitive and potentially upsetting information to both patients and relatives. The hysteroscopy practitioner will also assist in the supervision of students, newly qualified staff, and other professional groups.
