Band 6 Midwife - Full (37.5 hrs) & Part Time hours available
An opportunity has arisen for us to recruit additional midwives to cover Maternity leave to our team on the Maternity Assessment Centre, which includes Antenatal Clinic/Triage/Day Assessment Unit.
This unit supports approximately 20,000 episodes of care per year for women who have high-risk pregnancies, allowing them to be cared for as outpatients, which enables women to remain at home with their families.
This role also involves working with the Obstetric team in consultant-led Antenatal clinics and the newly set up Maternity Assessment Unit. The job role is a fast-paced decision-making environment that requires autonomous practice with medical cover when necessary. It demands in-depth knowledge of a wide range of antenatal complications as well as core midwifery assessment skills in Triage.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is required to provide holistic midwifery care to women/birthing people and babies in the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods. This includes working in the newly created Maternity Assessment Centre comprising ANC, Day Assessment Unit, and Triage.
The midwifery care is provided both in hospital, birth centre, and community settings, including the management of individual caseloads, clients, and/or ward areas. The post holder will deputise for the Band 7 in all clinical areas. The role is multidimensional and requires the post holder to integrate and fulfil all the identified dimensions.
