Social Worker - Children's Services
St. Helens Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Social Worker to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in long-term involvement with children and families, supporting children through various stages of their lives. Our team handles cases related to Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Children We Look After (CWLA), including care proceedings, pre-proceedings, and private proceedings.
Responsibilities:
1. Case Management: Manage a caseload of 20-22 children, focusing on long-term involvement rather than duty-based work.
2. Support & Advocacy: Provide ongoing support and advocacy for children and adults, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard.
3. Legal Proceedings: Handle care proceedings, pre-proceedings, and private proceedings professionally and with care.
4. Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with professionals, agencies, and families to develop and implement effective care plans promoting safety and well-being.
5. Continuous Monitoring: Regularly review cases to ensure children receive appropriate support, adjusting care plans as necessary.
Requirements:
* Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
* Enhanced DBS check.
* Strong knowledge of CIN, CP, and CWLA processes, including care proceedings.
* Reside within a reasonable commuting distance to St. Helens for regular involvement.
