Job Description
Carry out Quality Control Testing in accordance with Oxoid test specifications and methods. This includes, but is not limited to:
1. Level 1, 2, 3 & 4 testing methods
2. Media Preparation
3. OOS investigation and repeats
4. Raising and investigating Incidents
5. Training records management
6. Planning, tracking, and controlling product testing, providing accurate availability dates to planning and customer services
7. Alerting the QC Team Leader of potential problems and assisting with investigations
8. Recording all test results within the SAP Quality Management module
9. Equipment checks and audits
10. Cleaning, waste management, consumable replenishment, use of autoclaves, RCA/problem solving
Ensure processes and procedures align with laboratory and company Quality Systems. Build and maintain effective cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders such as QC Manager, QC Lead Scientist, QC Team Leader, QA, Manufacturing Sciences, Production, Customer Services, and Planning to meet customer service targets. Take direction from the QC Team Leader and Lead Scientist regarding testing priorities.
Engage in continuous improvement using PPI lean methodology, including standard work and tier meetings, to improve departmental and business processes. Assume key laboratory responsibilities such as first aider, fire warden, LSG, PPI Champion, etc. Deputize for leading Tier 1 and attend Tier 2 meetings as required. Role-model the Thermo Fisher 4I Values in daily decision-making. Fulfill responsibilities in accordance with Oxoid Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
Minimum Qualifications
* Level 6 educational qualification or equivalent in Microbiology or related field (or QBE)
* Effective planning and organizational skills
* Attention to detail and systematic approach for decision quality
* Technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
* Strong communication skills, fostering collaborative relationships and trust
* Results-driven with organizational agility and prioritization skills
* Proficiency in laboratory techniques (pipetting, swabbing, streaking, plating)
* Experience with testing at least two Oxoid product groups and expertise in HPLC, Wet Chemistry, LP, RAWM, PM, AST DCM, and FDS
* Good numeracy skills and ability to follow SOPs precisely
