The role
As a Director of Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Security, you’ll lead, direct, and develop the Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Security (SHEQS) function within Babcock at HMNB Clyde, achieving agreed business targets that deliver high-quality performance in the SHEQS arena.
Day-to-day, you will consider the environment in which Babcock operates at HMNB Clyde and contribute to strategy proposals for consideration and approval. You will also:
1. Develop and lead an improvement programme for Health and Safety that results in top decile performance.
2. Ensure that adequate resources (Suitable Qualified and Experienced Person (SQEP), facilities, equipment) are available for governance, assurance, and improvement activities, providing leadership to all HSEQ staff.
3. Control expenditure of the HSEQS Department within forecasted budget while seeking opportunities to increase income.
4. Set the strategy for the governance, assurance, and improvement of a HSEQ Management System for all matters affecting safety at HMNB Clyde.
5. Develop and deploy HSEQS Policy and Strategy for HMNB Clyde to meet customer, regulatory, and business requirements.
Essential experience of the Director of Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Security
1. Experienced Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Security Professional within a Nuclear/Defence/Regulated industry.
2. Naval Nuclear propulsion programme across the Submarine Enterprise.
3. Nuclear Emergency Response and associated procedures.
4. Leadership – the ability to lead and drive accountability across teams.
5. Ability to influence working with key stakeholders.
Qualifications for the Director of Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Security
1. Degree or Industry Experience in Health and Safety.
2. ILM Level 7 or equivalent.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who can achieve Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
