Position: Nursery Chef
Salary Banding: £26,212.99 - £36,644.19 per annum (dependent on qualification/s and experience)
Hours: Full time / Permanent / Mon-Fri / 40 hours
We are currently recruiting for a passionate Nursery Chef to join our wonderful Highgate Day Nursery and Preschool.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Keep the kitchen a clean and safe environment adhering to internal and external requirements
2. Encourage and model behaviour which is appropriate in a child environment being professional at all times
3. To make sure you meet the legal and company requirements for fire, safety, health & hygiene at all times and necessary paperwork is completed
4. To prepare and cook enough age appropriate food for all the children on a daily basis with minimum wastage
5. Take responsibility to make sure all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to the teams
6. To respond appropriately to issues requiring confidentiality: for example being aware of personal information regarding children
7. Support, promote and implement policies and procedures
8. Fulfil their roles, responsibilities and legislation duty in relation to safeguarding children by ensuring that they have read, understood and implement the Safeguarding Policies and Procedures.
9. Ensure that they have completed Child Protection training every two years as set out in the Child Protection Policy and that this training impacts on their ability to safeguard the children in their care
10. Work in co-operation and partnership with the Nursery team and parents to encourage a healthy and nutritious diet
11. Ensure that budgetary requirements are met
12. Having an active role in leading the cookery club sessions with children.
13. Use nominated suppliers and ensure all deliveries are accurate and paperwork is kept up to date
14. Support with other activities with the nursery e.g. BBQ’s, Fetes, Staff meetings, children’s cookery clubs
15. To take reasonable care of yourself and others and to comply with company Health and Safety guidelines
16. Support the manager and work as a team to ensure a good or better inspection outcome
17. Understand the importance of keeping everyone safe and the part you play
18. Demonstrate a proactive approach using your initiative and showing resilience to take responsibility for getting things done
19. Ensure stocks are managed and stock levels are recorded in line with company expectations.
Essential Experience:
1. Experience in any role which involves cooking in domestic or commercial property
2. Food Safety CIEH L2 or above or equivalent - this must be passed on day 1 in post
3. Sound Knowledge of COSHH
4. Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements around food allergies.
Experience Desirable:
1. Experience in any role that involved cooking for young children
2. Understanding of EHO process
Qualifications:
1. Food Safety CIEH L2 or above or equivalent - this must be passed on day 1 in post
Personal Attributes:
1. Ability to work under pressure
2. Ability to communicate with both adults, children and parents
3. Ability to communicate clearly using a variety of techniques.
4. Ability to encourage team effort
