Children's Independent Reviewing Officer needed for the Looked after Children in Hertfordshire Council.Paying up to £45ph!
Hertfordshire County Council are looking for an Independent Reviewing Officer based in County Hall, Hertford.
* The role of the IRO is an integral part of the department’s responsibility to Looked After Children, their carers and parents.
* To independently scrutinise the care plans for Looked After Children in line with the ‘Review of Children’s Cases Regulations.’ IRO Guidance from the DfES is clear that the IRO has a responsibility to inform managers of issues that impinge on the welfare of the child.
* The IRO primary is to ensure that the child's voice is heard within the review and used within the care planning within the LA.
* The IRO is responsible for ensuring that all participants of the review process are included and able to contribute. Consultation is by various means, and interpreters and independent advocates are encouraged.
* The IRO works closely with the Children’s Participation Team.
* Travel is required for face-to-face meetings within the area, WFH is available for writing up reviews, office and touchdown points also available, meetings will be held as and when required and attendance to the office will be required at this time.
Main duties:
* To chair reviews for CLA young people including the associated administrative tasks. These will usually be held face-to-face.
* To monitor progression of care plans for allocated young people.
* To participate in team meetings, the duty system and the first review system.
* To attend supervision monthly.
* To travel as required to see young people and attend reviews county wide and beyond.
* To ensure young people have the opportunity for an independent IRO visit at least annually.
* To undertake any audit work requested.
Essential experience:
* Must have IRO or Team Management experience of at least 5 yrs PQE.
* Evidence of continued managerial/professional experience.
* Experience of complex case assessments / chairing complex meetings, SW supervision/ working with multi agencies.
