Description The Team The Surrey Justice Access Centre, situated on the 3rd floor of the Surrey Court House, is supported by a dynamic team that includes administrative staff, interviewers, family justice counsellors, and a child support officer. This diverse team works collaboratively to provide comprehensive services to individuals and families dealing with separation or divorce. The Role Join our team as a Justice Interviewer and make a meaningful impact by guiding individuals through the justice system. You’ll assess client needs, provide critical information, and offer referrals to essential services. Your role includes gathering and verifying information, particularly in sensitive cases like family violence, to ensure clients receive the support they need. This frontline position involves limited case management, offering brief yet impactful services or counseling to resolve issues quickly. Qualifications: Education and Experience Requirements A recognized bachelor’s degree with a minimum of six months related work or volunteer experience in a human service field (e.g., Indigenous organizations and community services, counselling, community service agencies, employment assistance, dispute resolution, court services, legal services); OR A two - year diploma in a related field such as social sciences, paralegal, or dispute resolution with a minimum of two years related work or volunteer experience in a human service field (e.g., Indigenous organizations and community services, counselling, community service agencies, employment assistance, dispute resolution, court services, legal services); OR An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following: Six months or more experience working with families in a human service field. Completed one or both of the following online courses: o Family Justice Service in British Columbia online course – FAMJ-1000 (formerly FAM190 or CORR606), Justice Institute of BC. o Family Violence: Impact on Separation and Divorce online course – FAMJ-1002 (formerly FAM191 or CORR605), Justice Institute of BC. Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations status or non-status, Inuit and/or Metis), with the required combination of education and experience. Provisos /Willingness statement(s): Required to deliver service in person (office setting) and by phone using a telephone/software system. Potential for receiving information related to significant family conflict, threat of violence, or child neglect or abuse. About this Position: Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
