Graduate Assistant Job
I am working with a school founded in 1919, today they are a thriving independent co-ed prep school for pupils aged 2 to 13 years, located in a large country house set in stunning and tranquil grounds overlooking the Ashdown Forest and the Weir Wood Reservoir. They are a school with a strong sense of family - they share experiences and support each other. Our pupils learn to celebrate other pupils’ success as well as their own, and to be kind to those around them and they are seeking a Graduate Assistant to join them from September 2025.
THE ROLE
Sport
* Provide coaching, or assist with coaching, during PE lessons, swimming lessons and Games practice. There is potential to have the responsibility for a school team. Referee/umpire games if required.
Classroom Assistant
* Support pupil’s learning in the classroom. Morning break and lunch duties. Assist teaching staff in preparing teaching materials for lessons. Undertake classroom cover duties. Assist with and attend school assemblies.
Boarding
* Carry out boarding duties in the mornings and evenings on an agreed rota e.g. supervise mealtimes, closing down of boarding at night, support the wake-up of boarders and ensure the boarding pupils keep their rooms tidy. Provide pastoral support to boarders. Assist with the running and supervision of boarder activities in the evenings and weekends.
Co-Curricular
* Assist with school excursions and residential trips. Offer extra-curricular activities and/or assist in the running of these activities.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* Support and foster the aims of the School. Be professional and a good role model to the pupils at all times.
* There is also flexibility to offer opportunities for those wishing to gain wider experience in developing their own talents and interests e.g. music, drama, art, DT, and being involved with the Pre-Prep and Nursery.

HOURS OF WORK
* This is a one-year fixed term, term-time only position, working full-time during the school terms, including evenings and weekends. There is also the requirement to work up to 3 days before and at the end of each term.
ACCOMMODATION
Fully subsidised accommodation is provided with this role - there are no bills to pay. The accommodation is also available to live in during the school holidays if needed. The postholder will also benefit from being fully catered for during term-time by the in-house catering team.

SALARY
Circa £24,000 for the duration of the one year fixed-term contract.
