Our client has been established for over 40 years and has become the largest and leading UK distributor of promotional workwear and leisure clothing. With a head office in North Wales and operations across Europe, the business offers a diverse range of products and operates within a fast-growing industry. Now employing over 500 staff and a turnover of £168m.
Due to further growth, they have created a new role for an experienced Financial Accountant to manage the finance team and work as number 2 to the Financial Controller.
Key areas of responsibility:
1. Review of the monthly and annual accounts preparation across the Group
2. Preparation of board reports and analysis to the monthly management accounts
3. Authorisation of balance sheet reconciliations
4. Monthly accounting reconciliations - control accounts/ intercompany accounts
5. Analysing variances and working with budget holders to take mitigating action as necessary
6. Preparation and consolidation of annual budgets and forecasts
7. Ensure compliance with local/ European market financial laws, requirements, regulations and tax issues
8. Tax planning and compliance in multi jurisdictions
9. Build and maintain relationships with bank, auditors, tax advisors and HMRC
10. Challenge existing processes to develop and implement best practice
11. Lead, coach and develop an engaged and motivated finance team
Qualifications / Experience required:
1. A recognised professional accounting qualification (either ACA, ACCA or ACMA)
2. At least 3-5 years in a senior finance role
3. Experience of working in a global corporation and across multi tax jurisdictions would be a big advantage
4. Ability to manage and lead a successful team
5. High attention to detail
6. Can understand complex technical accounting and taxation concepts
7. Strong I.T. skills, in particular knowledge of the operation and administration of accounting systems
