Job Title: Senior Care Assistant

Salary Scale: £13.80 per hour
Hours: 36 hours per week (Maternity cover)
Responsible to: Head of Home
Main Function of Job
As a member of the management team, under the Head of Home, to assist in the effective and efficient management of the Home on a day-to-day basis, maintaining good standards of professional practice as required by the Northern Ireland Social Care Council, while working within the Christian ethos of the Council for Social Witness.
In the absence of the Head of Home (or Deputy Head), to exercise responsibility for all aspects of the operation of the Home and to relate to all callers including relatives and professionals.

Corkey House is one of 6 homes for older people run by the Council for Social Witness (Older People Services) and is situated at 1 Forthriver Crescent, Belfast BT13 3SR. The Home accommodates 35 residents with a variety of physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs and varying levels of dependency.
The Home operates a No Smoking Policy.
Criteria
Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
* Experience of contributing to a care plan
* A good understanding of adults who require care
* A minimum of NVQ/QCF Level 2 Award in Health and Social Care and willingness to work towards Level 3
* Appropriate IT skills to use Microsoft Word, email, RQIA portal, and electronic recording systems
Relevant Experience
Essential
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience caring for older people, people with disabilities, or people with mental health needs
* Willingness to achieve competency in administering medications, to be completed within 4 weeks of start date
Special Circumstances
Essential
* Availability for flexible hours, including weekends, which may extend beyond normal shift patterns
* Must maintain registration on the relevant section of the Northern Ireland Social Care Council register
* Willingness to behave in a manner that respects the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland
