We are looking for a highly motivated Physiotherapist who has a passion for teaching, interest in staff development and education. CUH has close links with local higher education institutes and is based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus which is the largest centre of medical research and health science in Europe.
In collaboration with other members of the Physiotherapy Team, you will provide a key role in supporting the education of junior members of staff within the surgery team. You will have the opportunity to design and deliver educational material to support Physiotherapy staff at CUH whilst remaining in a clinical role.
We are a large major trauma, multi-speciality hospital supporting both the local population and wider tertiary populations. You will have the opportunity to work with multiple surgical specialisms such as:
* Transplant
* ENT / Max fax
* Urology
* Plastics
Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard of physiotherapy service to the Surgical Wards and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit.
In collaboration with the Practice Development lead, manage the education of junior staff on the Surgery Team and be able to identify learning needs.
Produce, implement and update educational resources used within the Physiotherapy department.
To further develop skills in caseload prioritisation, service development audits and staff management.
To deputise for the Band 7 Team Lead and develop team management skills whilst carrying a complex patient caseload.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
* HCPC Registration
* Evidence of relevant postgraduate level education / CPD
* Membership of a professional body, e.g. The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or professional network, i.e. ICS, ACPRC, ACPIN
Experience
* Substantial experience as a Band 6 in the management of post-operative abdominal and head and neck patients
* Substantial experience in the management and rehabilitation of patients requiring respiratory care, including critical care
* Substantial experience as a Band 6 in a broad range of specialities including respiratory, elderly care, neurological and musculoskeletal conditions
* Experience of working as part of a Physiotherapy team and/or MDT
* Experience in supervising and in the management of less experienced staff or assistants
* Experience teaching junior members of staff
* Band 6 experience
* Experience in supervising students
* Experience in supervising Juniors
* Experience of working in a community setting
* Experience in conducting formal presentations
* NHS experience
* Relevant courses in education, leadership and development
Knowledge
* Substantial knowledge of Surgical procedures, Cardiovascular, Respiratory and Neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy.
* Ability to pass on knowledge to others
* Knowledge of enhanced recovery after surgery pathways within the NHS.
* Knowledge of pre-habilitation pre-operatively.
* Knowledge of level one enhanced care post-operatively.
