We are incredibly proud of the success pupils enjoy when taking part in PE and Games at Kings Priory School. With motivated pupils, a very high participation rate, a wide range of fixtures and support for the PE department across the school. Due to the internal promotion of members of the department within school, we are seeking to expand our team with a female teacher of PE so that we can continue to meet the high demand for the subject.
We are looking for a dynamic, adaptable and enthusiastic teacher to work alongside our hardworking, talented and dedicated team, to teach PE across the full ability range from Year 5 - 13. The ability to teach GCSE PE would be essential for this role. The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and a willingness to participate in the wider life of the school, in all of its forms.
We welcome applications from colleagues at all stages of their career, confident that our school will provide a supportive environment where learners want to learn and relationships between staff and pupils are second to none. If you are an outstanding teacher with the ability to inspire, motivate, challenge and support pupils to ensure they make exceptional progress, we would love to hear from you.

The PE Department
The PE department at Kings Priory School currently teaches across the age and ability range from Years 5 – 13 under the direction of the Curriculum Team Leader of PE.
The department has an excellent reputation throughout the school, both for the quality of teaching and high levels of pupil enjoyment of our subject, demonstrated by our exceptionally high participation rate across PE and Games lessons.
In Year 5 and 6 pupils have a double PE lesson. From Year 7 - 11 pupils have one PE lesson and a Games afternoon; in Sixth Form, all pupils have a Games afternoon.
In PE lessons pupils follow a challenging curriculum which focuses on developing skills across a number of activities using predominantly indoor facilities like the sports hall, fitness suite and dance studio.
In Games afternoons, each year group has an afternoon where we develop the main sports of the school and play fixtures against other schools. We are very proud of the fact that, where possible, every pupil from Year 5 – 10 will have the opportunity to experience a competitive fixture at their level.
In Year 11 - 13 there are still teams (rugby, football and hockey, for example), but there are also opportunities for more recreational activities so that pupils can continue to be physically active.
At GCSE we follow the Edexcel Syllabus and at A-Level we have previously followed the OCR syllabus and are now teaching Cambridge Technical Sport and Physical Activity for the first time.
Many students also take up the Level 2 and 3 Sports leaders course in Year 12 and 13, where we organise many events and activities across the school. There are many extra-curricular clubs before, during, and after school, along with fixtures after school and sometimes at weekends, to give pupils more opportunities to be physically active.
The department are always looking to develop opportunities for pupils to be physically active, and while we enter a number of competitions and want our pupils to be successful, we also believe it is just as important to make sure that all pupils enjoy physical activity and develop a life-long interest in participation which continues after pupils leave school.
Kings Priory School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
