Working hours: Shift role working 2 days, then 2 nights followed by 4 days off rotation 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am. (Sunday -> Sunday Rotation)

What you’ll do
Role purpose: To be part of an VBSE Assure team in a Network Management Centre supporting multiple networks, providing 2nd Line operational support to Government customers. To provide expert technical services focusing on Transmission and IP elements within the VBSE network.
1. Undertake Assure team maintenance and fault work in accordance with customer service level agreements.
2. Undertake remote commissioning work on Tx, IP and equipment deployed on customer and network sites to current specifications.
3. Deal effectively and efficiently with queries from customers.
4. Perform regular audits on the networks and systems.
5. Provide technical support to others in the department and to customers. Make recommendations to VBSE management on complex technical matters.
Who you are
1. Be able to maintain Customer confidentiality and ability to hold security clearance.
2. Understanding of in-depth knowledge of Transmission equipment and networks, DWDM, SDH, PDH, etc, in a telecoms provider environment.
3. Awareness of configuration of Ciena and Alcatel equipment.
4. In-depth knowledge of IP networking, switching and routing in a telecoms provider environment.
5. Awareness of configuration of Cisco and Alcatel IP/Ethernet equipment.
6. A clear and analytical approach to problem management.
7. Understanding of ITIL working practices.
8. CCNA or equivalent experience.
