About the Role
Rochdale Borough Council is one of 25 areas taking part in the Environment Agency Flood and Coastal Resilience and Innovation Programme, a £200m national programme to test and deliver new and innovative approaches to flood resilience in the context of climate change and revitalising communities.
Our project is based in two communities in Rochdale borough, Littleborough and Wardleworth, where through a £9m programme to 31st March 2027 and working with partners including the National Flood Forum we will work with communities, developers and other agencies to increase the flood resilience of people and places including homes, businesses, the local environment and host neighbourhoods through developing innovative and cutting edge approaches that make a real difference, help address our declared climate emergency priorities and which can be used as an exemplar of good practice for other places. The project will deliver flood and climate resilient housing including water conservation and energy efficiency measures, nature based solutions for flood risk management, better neighbourhood green infrastructure and more flood and climate aware, capable, engaged and financially resilient residents and businesses.
About you
We have an exciting vacancy for an experienced administrator to help support a holistic joint Housing and Lead Local Flood Authority programme in delivering our project and our vision for flood and climate resilient and excellent housing and environmental assets within the Borough. We require an individual who is passionate about the real-life difference that increased flood resilience can bring through quality housing and a better environment in our community.
A key function of the role will be to provide administrative (including financial) support across the Service, including within the joint services team. You will be required to undertake basic administrative duties, as well as supporting colleagues during an exciting period of service transformation. You will be efficient and organised, able to concentrate on key items of importance, systemic in your approach and able to use MS programme including Excel to a moderate standard to create tables, input data and extract data in a variety of formats. Ideally you will have had experience of financial administration (including invoicing, processing, Purchase Orders etc.).
You will relish the challenge of engaging with colleagues, the Environment Agency, customers and third sector partners, as well as supporting colleagues. You will be capable of maintaining case files, spreadsheets and developing new systems for recording and reporting on project outcomes.
