Ten hour shifts, rotating weekends off.
Shifts are 6am-4pm, 3pm-2am and 9pm-7am.
Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose
The Police Dispatcher is responsible for receiving and transmitting routine and emergency telephone and radio messages, viewing camera surveillance systems, and identifying issues important to the department’s mission.
Essential Functions
* Answers emergency telephone requests for police, fire and medical emergencies.
* Dispatches police, required equipment, or arranges for response from other departments, as appropriate.
* Maintains radio communication with University police units and for maintaining logs of the activities of each officer.
* Maintains various departmental files including criminal records and confidential files.
* Assists in training new dispatchers.
* Performs a variety of clerical and typing work.
* Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
This position serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA) as outlined by the Clery Act. CSAs have federally mandated responsibilities to report crimes that are reported to them.
Minimum Qualifications
* High School Diploma, G.E.D.
* One (1) month of customer service related work experience.
* Must type 40 wpm.
* Must undergo and pass a complete police background investigation.

Work is performed during non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Hiring Range
Hiring Range $27/hr with differential for night shift. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
