Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit to Clinical Trials Pharmacy Technician posts. The main purpose of the post is to perform routine pharmaceutical duties with a high level of accuracy to support the provision of the Clinical Trials service across the Trust.
We are looking for responsible, progressive, pro-active, hard-working individuals with strong communication and problem-solving skills and a positive attitude to work and willingness to learn. Applicants must be self-motivated and organised.
You will have to have a good attention to detail, be able to work effectively alone and as part of a team, and contribute to the process of service development and innovation by your own initiative and enthusiasm. You will be required to work to the strict guidance of ICH GCP, the European Clinical Trials Directive, Trust and Departmental SOPs.
This role will be based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary; however, the successful candidate may on occasion be required to work at other sites.
Prior working in hospital, clinical trials, and an aseptic unit is desirable but not essential; we are keen to receive applications from pharmacy technicians working in any sector. Successful candidates will be given full training and development in these areas in order to fulfil specialist duties for this post.
Job responsibilities
* To deputise for the Clinical Trial Co-ordinator at each site as necessary to co-ordinate clinical trial services and assist the dispensary team leaders and duty technicians with clinical trial dispensing and checking as required.
* To ensure the flow and appropriate prioritisation of clinical trial work through the department to optimise efficiency and maintain turnaround target times to ensure the provision of a prompt and responsive clinical trial service.
* To assist with the maintenance of Pharmacy study files to ensure all members of Pharmacy staff can dispense, check and counsel patients on their investigational medicinal products (IMPs) safely and efficiently.
* To ensure where appropriate for clinical trial stock that transactions are entered accurately onto the pharmacy computer system at the time of issue in order to minimise stock discrepancies and out of stock situations.
* To participate in weekend, late duty, and bank holiday work in accordance with departmental rotas.
Person Specification
Qualification and Training
* NVQ level 3 and BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
* Be registered as a practising Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC (or awaiting registration)
Experience
* Requirements of good dispensing practice
* Good organisational skills

* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Team worker/ability to work alone
Analytical and Judgement skill
* Ability to make decisions, use initiative and solve problems
