Job Description
Brook Street are working with a well established accountancy firm, based in Newport, who are looking for a Payroll Officer to join the team. This is a brand new role due to increased workload. This role is Monday - Friday, 8:30PM - 4:30PM, all on-site.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Payroll Manager in managing a diverse client payroll portfolio.
2. Complete weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly, and monthly payrolls for clients with employee counts ranging from 1 to 150 using Sage Payroll.
3. Process BACS payments using third-party payment mandates.
4. Ensure timely submission of all HMRC returns and compliance with regulations.
5. Upload pension data to relevant pension providers accurately.
6. Prepare and complete year-end submissions.
7. Address and resolve client payroll queries promptly.
8. Provide holiday cover and support for the Payroll Manager as needed.
Requirements:
1. Minimum of 2 years' experience in payroll within an accountancy practice.
2. Proficient in Sage Payroll software.
3. Strong understanding of payroll legislation and HMRC regulations.
4. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
5. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
6. Strong communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
7. A proactive approach to problem-solving.
