Job summary The appointee will support clinical trials under the supervision of Dr Mark McPhail. The appointee will be based at King's College Hospital, Denmark Hill. The post is for 8 months in the first instance. The appointee will be expected to offer administrative and clinical support to existing and new commercial and non-commercial clinical trials. Clinical trials will be based mainly or entirely at Denmark Hill, in one of the UK's leading centres for liver research, and part of a leading UK Academic Health Sciences Centre. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be involved in supporting specific Hepatology consultants as Chief or Principal Investigators in the delivery of clinical trials. The focus of these trials will include but are not limited to those involving portal hypertension, acute alcoholic hepatitis and management of decompensated cirrhosis. In addition, the postholder will undertake screening and recruitment of participants for these trials and observational studies. The successful candidate will have fixed clinical commitments which would be determined by both their clinical training needs and the service requirements of the Institute. Depending on the individual undertaking this research role focusing on a defined project within the Institute of Liver studies, subject to the securing appropriate funding and university approvals, it may be possible to register for and pursue a high degree such as an MD or PhD.
