At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose to improve people’s lives.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and dedicated Business Manager to join our Statutory SEND Team. As our Business Manager, you will be a pivotal member of our team, line managing our support staff and taking responsibility for their training and development, quality assurance of their work and the effective allocation of workload across the team.
You will manage the SEND team office area in Keynsham. Your role will support our team to meet statutory timescales. You will monitor key metrics that inform our annual census, the SEN2, and advise Senior officers on data quality.
This is a challenging but extremely rewarding role requiring professionalism, reliability, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while being able to interact positively with suppliers, partners, team members and our families and young people.
About You
You’ll be degree educated or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience, and have GCSEs grade A-C (Level 4-9) or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics. With practical experience already from a relevant field, such as working with parents/carers or schools, you’ll bring ready-formed customer or service-user facing skills with you, a current understanding of SEND key national issues, and knowledge of data protection, GDPR and confidentiality guidelines.
You will have experience line managing a team.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to independently plan your workload to meet specified timescales are a must. You’ll also be energised by working under pressure, able to switch between competing priorities, and be comfortable using your initiative. Finally, you’ll have the skills to analyse and interpret information from a wide range of sources, and excellent written and verbal communication skills which mean you can summarise that information concisely.
Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible by public transport and with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away. Whilst we offer flexible working, this role requires the candidate to work in the Civic Centre for at least 4 days a week, often 5.
