GSL Education is working with an SEND school in Redruth seeking Special Needs Learning Mentors to join their team. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity with the potential for a permanent position.
The school provides tailored education packages for students with complex needs or those with EHCPs who are at risk of requiring residential placements. These pupils may have struggled to thrive in Cornwall secondary and special schools or are transitioning back from out-of-county placements.
Students receive high levels of support, including one-to-one assistance and personalised timetables, designed around thematic learning experiences. The school offers a variety of bespoke learning opportunities both in and outside the classroom to foster engagement, build resilience, and support academic progress.
Key Information:
The role spans across KS1-4 settings.
Candidates must have a UK driving licence, access to their own car, and business insurance.
Responsibilities:
Provide tailored guidance and support to students as a Special Needs Learning Mentor.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to create comprehensive support plans.
Foster a nurturing environment to improve students’ social and communication skills.
Assist with academic tasks, daily activities, and implement interventions to address behavioural challenges and promote positive outcomes.
Requirements:
UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance.
Full-time availability to start immediately.
Effective communication skills to facilitate productive interactions.
