The role holder is responsible for leading, training, and managing a number of Coastguard Rescue Teams, under the supervision of the Coastal Operations Area Commander to ensure that the Operational Area is at a state of constant readiness. Responsible for the supervision and management of vehicles and estates belonging to a number of Coastguard Rescue Teams, and for the inspection of operational equipment.
As part of the role, your responsibilities will include:
* The role holder forms part of the Area Management Team, with responsibility for delivery of agreed Area objectives and for informing the Coastal Operations Area Commander of developments and opportunities within their teams which will impact on Area plans.
* Leading and managing a number of teams allocated to them by the Coastal Operations Area Commander. They will act as mentor and coach to Station Officers, ensuring that there is a consistent standard of leadership and compliance with policy across the teams they are allocated.
* Responsible for recruitment, induction, and technical training of volunteer Coastguard Rescue Officers, the monitoring of their probation progress and ensuring that newly recruited Coastguard Rescue Officers are developed appropriately, are motivated and understand the commitment required within the volunteer Coastguard Rescue Service. This includes ensuring that Coastguard Rescue Officers are trained and assessed in all disciplines required in line with national policy, and Area priorities.
* Continually strive to identify good practice, lessons learnt and opportunities for continual improvement within the teams.
We operate a 24/7 on-call roster as part of a team and you will be required to participate in this, acting in a leadership, direction and standards role for the Coastguard Rescue Service. By exception, this will include deployment anywhere in the UK.
