As a shift manager, this role is critical in overseeing the efficient operation of the site, ensuring that production processes run smoothly, whilst maintaining a high level of productivity and quality.
Job Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include:
Inventory Management: Supervising the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods to ensure accurate inventory levels are maintained. This involves tracking stock levels, conducting regular inventory counts, and implementing systems to optimize inventory turnover.
Production Planning : Collaborating with other business departments to develop production schedules and ensure timely delivery of goods to meet customer demands. This involves forecasting future production needs, coordinating with suppliers, and adjusting production plans as necessary.
Quality Control : Implementing quality control measures to ensure that products meet established standards and specifications. This may involve inspecting incoming materials, conducting quality checks throughout the production process, and addressing any issues that arise.
Health and Safety Compliance: Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment along with high 5s standards. This includes conducting regular safety inspections, providing training on safe work practices, and addressing any safety concerns promptly.
Team Management: Leading and supervising staff, including assigning tasks, providing training and guidance, and evaluating performance. Effective communication and leadership skills are essential for motivating and managing a diverse team.
Process Improvement : Identifying opportunities to streamline production processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. This may involve implementing new technologies, optimising workflow layouts, or revising standard operating procedures.
Problem-solving: Addressing any issues or challenges that arise during production, such as equipment malfunctions, inventory shortages, or scheduling conflicts. Quick decision-making and problem-solving skills are essential for minimising disruptions and maintaining production momentum.
Overall, your role as a shift manager is to oversee all aspects of operations, from inventory management to production planning, with the goal of maximising efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
– Proven experience as a Shift Manager or similar role.
– Strong knowledge of operations, inventory management, and logistics.
– Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
– Familiarity with safety and quality standards.
– Ability to analyse data and implement process improvements.
– Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
– Proficient in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software.
