About the role
The Department of Computing & Informatics is seeking to appoint three talented and enthusiastic Research Assistants to join the “Smart Accessible Carbon Monoxide Alarm” project, under the guidance of Prof. Marios Angelopoulos. These positions are suitable for candidates with backgrounds in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related sciences, with expertise in IoT technologies, embedded operating systems, microelectronics, and mobile applications.
The successful candidates will hold an MSc in one of these areas and will develop a prototype of the accessibility module for carbon monoxide alarms with integrated IoT features and smartphone connectivity, building on findings from a prior feasibility study. The main responsibilities include planning, designing, and developing a fully operational prototype of the smart accessible CO alarm.

Two part-time positions (18.5 hours/week, 0.5 FTE) are available on a fixed-term basis for 10 months starting May 2025, focusing on IoT development.
One full-time position focusing on mobile application development and IoT integration is available on a fixed-term basis for 10 months from May 2025.
