Provide technical expertise and leadership to the implementation, monitoring, and delivery of the Sustainable Health Strategy within Route Services.

Role: Lead Occupational Health & Wellbeing Specialist
Vacancy Type: Full-time but flexible working patterns will be considered

This role sits in Route Services, a business area that has been created to supply services to the routes in the safest, most cost-efficient and effective way, enabling them to benefit from economies of scale and optimised national resources.
The Health, Safety, Sustainability (HSS) team provide subject matter advice, assurance, direction, and support to Route Services business areas, delivering on the HSS strategy, on high-risk areas of improvement and Occupational Health and Wellbeing.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Leading the production, implementation, and monitoring of a Health Management Plan and Health Improvement Risk Reduction Plan, aligned to Risk profile within region/routes/functions.
2. Technical input to the improvement projects needed to deliver the Sustainable Health Strategy within Regions/Routes Functions, including, but not limited to, those related to medical fitness-to-work requirements, drugs and alcohol, mental health, health promotion, health surveillance, and management of occupational health hazards.
3. Leading the production, implementation, and monitoring of a health risk profile and COSHH Risk Register, thereby enabling consistent health risk management and compliance.
4. Implementing the technical requirements of Network Rail occupational health and wellbeing standards/policies.
5. Provide technical expertise for occupational health and wellbeing in Route Services, including supporting the identification of potential future strategy agenda items.
6. Develop and implement a governance framework to monitor compliance with National Health performance Assurance Framework.
7. Support the specification and delivery of necessary occupational health and wellbeing services from third-party providers.
8. Influence the technical input to the occupational health elements of Network Rail’s Health and Safety Management Systems.
9. Lead on acquiring and determining health data, RS health performance, and business impact.
10. Liaise with the Occupational Health Team in the Technical Authority.
What essential skills and experiences are required?
Essential
1. Proven experience/expertise in occupational health, safety, and wellbeing working for a large multi-discipline organisation in a senior position.
2. Registered Nurse (RN) with a post-graduate Occupational Health qualification (Diploma, Degree, or Masters).
3. Experience of leading the application of occupational health and wellbeing in complex system, product, and process developments.
Desirable
1. Relevant experience in the railway or construction industries.
2. Corporate member of IOSH or similar.
3. Proven experience of ability to develop, implement and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
