About the Role As a Planning Officer within our Development Management Team, you will manage a diverse caseload of planning applications, appeals, and related consents. You will provide expert advice on planning matters and represent the service at Planning Committees and other relevant forums. Your responsibilities will include: Preparing detailed reports for Planning Committees, public meetings, and other consultative groups. Assisting with planning appeals and preparing evidence for appeal procedures (Written Representations, Informal Hearings, Public Inquiries). Negotiating community benefits from development projects through legal agreements such as Section 106 obligations and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). Contributing to a high-performance, customer-focused service while ensuring compliance with statutory planning requirements. Maintaining continual professional development to keep up with industry best practices and policy changes. About You We are looking for a dynamic and experienced professional who is passionate about planning and its role in shaping sustainable communities. You will possess: A degree or qualification in planning or a related field. Experience as a Planning Officer, managing planning applications, and interpreting relevant planning policies. Strong decision-making skills with the ability to resolve conflicting interests and balance competing priorities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly. The ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage a varied workload.
