About the role
Ecclesiastical Insurance, who are proudly part of Benefact Group are looking for a Head of Marketing Communications to join our Gloucester office.
The Head of Marketing Communications is a senior leadership team member responsible for leading and executing marketing communications strategies for the UKGI (UK General Insurance) business. Reporting to the UKGI Marketing Director, this role focuses on trading (Direct and B2B) account-based marketing, distribution support, events, and providing marketing consultancy services to external clients and brokers. The role will drive growth, engagement, and customer acquisition through targeted communication strategies, ensuring alignment with the broader marketing and business objectives.
You'll be accountable for budget and investment decisions, alongside resource allocation (internal and external) and ensuring our communications operate within the agreed finance, risk and governance frameworks for Marketing and Brand activities within Ecclesiastical and in line with FCA regulations, guidelines and principles.

Key responsibilities
* Leads the UKGI Marketing communications function, providing both strategic and executional direction to align to the UKGI business objectives, and sets acknowledged boundaries for autonomy and empowerment for teams and team members in the development and delivery of agreed activities
* Supports the Marketing Director in the development and delivery of strategic or transformational change for the function, in line with long term business priorities Provides input on impact and implications for change to help shape implementation and reports on effectiveness
* Lead and manage the marketing communications team to execute marketing campaigns that drive brand awareness, demand generation, and sales conversion
* Develop and implement comprehensive marketing communication strategies to support trading (Direct and B2B)
* Create and implement an account based marketing strategy that aligns to CRM and delivers high impact, measurable results, improving customer and broker acquisition, retention, and satisfaction
* Provide strategic marketing support and consultancy to both internal teams, and external customers and brokers, delivering expert advice on best practices and strategies to increase their market effectiveness, and ensuring they have the tools, resources, and materials to effectively promote the UKGI offering
* Develop co-branded and custom marketing collateral, digital assets, and sales materials for brokers and distribution partners
* Ensures team knowledge of and adherence to the agreed companywide governance and Compliance requirements for marketing (e.g. Fin. Prom. sign off, Consumer Duty outcomes, ASA codes, GDPR etc)
* Manage the event strategy and execution, ensuring all activities are aligned with business goals, including client and broker conferences, product launches, and industry seminars
* Establish relationships and represent the company at industry events and forums to position UKGI as a leader in the market
* Building a strong, resilient team with a target of 3* in the bheard employee engagement results, becoming a high performing team of subject matter experts through targeted training and development support and a team culture that aligns with the brand purpose an business values
* Focused delivery Monitor, track, and analyse the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and initiatives, using data-driven insights to optimise future strategies
* Provide regular reports on marketing activity, including ROI analysis, performance metrics, and key learnings, to the UKGI Marketing Director and other senior stakeholders
* Work closely with the wider marketing team, align with key stakeholders in product and proposition, risk, claims, underwriting and distribution teams to ensure consistent and cohesive messaging and an integrated marketing approach across customer and broker journeys
* Collaborate with the design, content, and digital marketing and PR teams to create compelling assets and content that resonate with target audiences
* Implements and monitors a recognised process and framework for the development and sign off of creative platforms and final content from both internal and external resources
* Management of strong agency and marketing supplier relationships, that allows us resource agility but considers commercial value and impact.
Knowledge, skills and experience
* Significant experience in strategic marketing communications, with a proven track record within a similar role, preferably within FS or a highly regulated environment
* Deep experience of developing strategies and executional approaches and plans that challenge the sector and ensure senior stakeholder buy in and support
* Is both commercially and brand focused – can recognise and balance that tension
* Demonstrated expertise in managing high impact marketing campaigns across direct and B2B, including account-based marketing
* Strong experience in working with senior stakeholders and external clients to deliver effective marketing strategies
* A track record of leading high-performing marketing teams and achieving business growth through innovative marketing initiatives
* Team leadership. Able to ‘translate’ business messaging into clear marketing direction for the team and provide confidence for the Marketing Director of capable response and delivery
* Ability to develop the right balance of internal and external resource models to support business requirements and build strong long term agency partnerships for the creation of impactful strategies and output
